Sports Parent Companion

FOR THE PARENTS BEHIND THE PERFORMANCE

What do they need

from us now?

Five questions I still ask myself after years of being a sports parent.

When to help. When to challenge. When to listen. When to give them room. What might they be ready to handle for themselves?

‘What Do They Need From Me Now?’

What do you do when there isn’t an obvious right answer?

Speak to the coach or leave it to them? Encourage more or ease off? Step in or step back?

Sports parenting gets complicated. And what they need from us keeps changing.

This isn’t a book of rules. It’s a companion for working out what this moment needs now.

The story behind Sports Parent Companion

‘It Takes a Village’

What happens when your child’s sporting journey becomes part of the whole family’s life?

The car journeys. Selections. Coaches. Setbacks. Sacrifices. Mistakes. And all the things you only really understand looking back.

Hi – I’m Oli.

I’m a sports parent who’s spent years beside pitches, on boundaries and driving ridiculous distances while my son’s journey through competitive cricket became part of our family’s life.

Sports Parent Companion grew from what that journey has taught me, including plenty I didn’t understand at the time.
